Overview
Cochrane Campground is located on Gainesville Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway south of Aliceville, Alabama.
The area's outdoor activities, quiet solitude and breathtaking vistas of the bluffs on the waterway keep visitors coming back.
Natural Features:
Cliffs and lush forests line the shore of Gainesville Lake. The waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama and connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico.
Recreation:
Families can make use of the playground and two game courts, as well as enjoy bird watching.
Anglers can try their luck along the shoreline or go off-shore in search of bass, catfish and crappie.
Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species at designated hunting areas on the Tenn-Tom lands.
Facilities:
There are 60 shaded campsites with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, pedestal grills and lantern posts. Nearly all campsites lie along the water.
Visitors have the convenience of hot showers, laundry facilities and picnic shelters as well.

Know Before You Go
- This is a year-round facility
- The walk-in season is from November through February
- Gates are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; there is an emergency exit for campers
- Visitor hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- There is a $3 fee per day for extra vehicle (more than two per site)

From Aliceville, Alabama, take Highway 17 south for 10 miles. Approximately 2 miles from the Hyuck Bridge turn right at the sign for the Cochrane Recreation Area. Follow the paved road approximately 2 miles; the campground is on the left.
